Clinton Portis is out 4-6 weeks

Ryan Torain will get the start this week with Portis out. If Torain plays good  I see him taking over the starting job permanently from Portis this year. If Torain is available I would add him immediately and feel confident about starting him this week against Green Bay.

Brandon Tate will benefit from the departure of Randy Moss

Brandon Tate will take over for the departed Randy Moss as a starting receiver for the Patriots. I would definitely add Tate if you are not to deep at the wide receiver spot. He could turn into a solid pickup and could turn into a starter for your fantasy team down the road.

If LeSean McCoy misses any time Mike Bell could be worth a pickup.

ESPN is reporting that LeSean McCoy is out indefinitely with a fractured rib but I would wait and see what comes out of Eagles camp before we really know for sure. If McCoy is going to miss any time then it would look like Mike Bell would get the start. I have already picked him up in my league and put him on bench just in case McCoy doesn't play.

Randy Moss to the Vikings?

Talks are starting to heat up between New England and Minnesota concerning Randy Moss. The good thing for Moss owners is it can't really get any worse. He had 0 catches last night and maybe a change of scenery would benefit Moss. Minnesota desperately needs a #1 receiver and Moss could definitely fill the role. I would see the trade as a definite bonus for Moss owners.

Marshawn Lynch is traded to Seattle

Marshawn Lynch was traded to Seattle. This is not what Justin Forsett owners wanted to see as he will lose carries to Lynch for sure. This will mainly increase the value of Fred Jackson & CJ Spiller but the Bills running attack has been bad but I would definitely pick Jackson up if he is on the waiver wire and put him on your bench and see what happens.

Vick update

Vick will miss at least 1 week and possibly more. My guess is Vick will probably miss 1-2 weeks & then he should be back as the starter. Kolb has not looked to good so I wouldn't worry about him regaining the starting job. The Eagles do have a bye in week 8 but I don't think the Eagles could afford to rest Vick for the next month unless Kolb plays great over the next game or two. Hopefully Kolb will start passing down field so Maclin  & Jackson owners won't have to sweat it out with Kolb as QB but who knows. The 49ers defense is hungry for a win so I don't think this will be an easy game for Kolb by any means. Vick owners should think about adding Kolb as a handcuff but there are several other viable QB's out there on the waiver wire if you choose to look elsewhere.

Pick up Michael Bush if he is available

With Darren McFadden leaving yesterdays game with an apparent hamstring injury, I would grab Michael Bush off the waiver wire this week. You never know with hamstring injuries, Bush will get the majority of the workload for the Raiders over the next few weeks if McFadden can't play.

Pick up Ryan Torain if you have an extra roster spot

Ryan Torain carried the ball 18 times for 70 yards an a TD and it looks like injury prone Clinton Portis hurt his groin. Even if Portis continues to play through injuries I think Torain will still get over 10 touches a game and is worth an add in 12 team leagues. If Clinton Portis misses anytime then Torain will be the starter and could be a nice flex play or even a #2 RB in deeper leagues.

Waiver Wire targets

The following will be the most sought after players on the waiver wire:
Week 3 Stats
Lance Moore (Saints) 6 receptions for 149 yards and 2 TD's
Peyton Hillis (Browns) 180 total yards and 1 TD
Benjarvus Green Ellis (NE) 104 total yards 1 TD
Kenneth Darby(Rams) backup for Steven Jackson who is having an MRI today
Dustin Keller(Jets) 98 yards receiving and 2 TD's
Brandon Lloyd (Den) 169 yards receiving & 1 TD
Jabar Gaffney (Den) 140 yards receiving
Willis McGahee (Bal) backup for Ray Rice who is having an MRI today

Ray Rice & Steven Jackson to have MRI's today

If you have either Ray Rice or Steven Jackson I would head to the waiver wire and put in a claim for their backups. In Baltimore, you will want to target Willis McGahee to fill in for Ray Rice and in ST Louis you will want to go after Kenneth Darby to back up Steven Jackson.

Week 4 Byes: Dallas, KC, Minnesota, Tampa Bay

Week 4 Byes: Dallas, KC, Minnesota, Tampa Bay

What to do with Maurice Jones Drew?

To be honest, I would try to trade MJD as soon as possible because his name still carries some serious weight and people would likely still trade away some good players to get their hands on him in their fantasy leagues. The Jacksonville passing attack is dismal at best so defenses are going to key on MJD each every week. Sure MJD will have some big weeks but he is also going to have those weeks where he puts up 60 yards and no TD's. He ran for around 130 yards and 0 TD's in his first two weeks. I don't see him finishing as a top 10 running back in fantasy this year either so trade him away if you can land good players in return and let someone else worry about him. There have also been some questions about his health but nobody knows for sure.
